A man has died in a horror single-vehicle road crash on the M8 after passers-by battled to save him.
Emergency crews raced to the incident between Bishopton and Langbank after receiving a report of the one-vehicle road smash at 1.05am on Monday, May 22. A number of motorists who witnessed the collision, involving a red Renault Captur, stopped and battled to save the 30-year-old driver until medics attended.
Despite their attempts, he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives investigating the incident say the driver collided with a barrier heading westbound on the motorway prior to his death.
They are appealing to witnesses of the incident, particularly those with dash-cam footage, to come forward.
Sergeant Kenny Malaney, Road Policing Unit, said: "A number of other motorists who saw the crash stopped and tried to help the man until emergency services arrived but unfortunately he did not survive the crash.
"Although we have spoken to those who stopped to assist, we are still keen to hear from anyone who may have been on the M8 westbound that morning between 1.40am and 1.50am who may have seen the car driving on the road prior to the crash or the collision itself and who has not yet come forward.
"Dash-cam video would also be helpful as it may have captured footage that could help our investigation."
Any information can be passed to officers via 101 quoting reference number 0217 of Monday, 22 May 2023.
