A man who was found injured on a Lockerbie street in the early hours of this morning has died.
Emergency services raced to Townhead Street at roughly 5.50am today after receiving reports of an injured male.
The road was cordoned off by police, with forensic and ambulance crews also in attendance.
The 27-year-old man was rushed to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary, where he sadly died shortly after arriving.
Police say the death is not being treated as suspicious and a report is being prepared for the Procurator Fiscal.
Detective Constable Rachael Houston, Dumfries CID, said: "Around 5.50am, on Wednesday, 1 February, 2023 we were called to a report of an injured male on Townhead Street, Lockerbie.
“The 27-year-old was taken by ambulance to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary where he died a short time later.
"Following enquiries there are no suspicious circumstances. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
