A man has died in a fire at a council-run shelter housing complex in Forfar. Emergency services raced to the scene on Thursday evening at Andrew Smyth Gardens.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) first received the alert at 6.15pm and three appliances battled the blaze until they left the scene at 10.15pm.
Police have confirmed that tragically a man was pronounced dead at the scene and they are now investigating the circumstances with SFRS.
Angus Council own and operate the sheltered housing site.
A spokesperson for SFRS added: “We received a call regarding a fire at Andrew Smyth Gardens at 6.15pm on Thursday.
“Three appliances attended and remained on scene until 10.15pm.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers received a report of a fire at a property on Andrew Smyth Gardens, Forfar, around 6.45pm on Thursday, 23 February, 2023.
“Emergency services attended and a man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The fire was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and a joint-investigation into the circumstances is ongoing.”
