A man died in the Denver County Jail Monday, according to the Denver Sheriff Department.
Deputies found the man “non-responsive” in a housing unit at about 5:30 p.m. Monday, Denver Sheriff Department spokeswoman Daria Serna said in a news release.
“A medical emergency team was immediately called and lifesaving efforts were performed until paramedics arrived,” she said.
The man died in the jail. His name and age have not been publicly released and it was not clear how long the man had been incarcerated.
Serna did not immediately return a request for additional information Tuesday, and said in the news release that the agency was releasing limited information due to the ongoing investigation into the man’s death.
