An unfortunate incident occurred at a private resort in Puerto Peñasco, Mexico, where a 43-year-old man from El Paso, Texas, lost his life due to electrocution in a hot tub. The incident took place late in the evening, as the man, identified as Jorge N., and another individual named Lizeth N., were enjoying the facilities at the Sonoran Sea Resort.
According to the Mexican State of Sonora General Prosecutor’s Office, it is suspected that a potential wiring failure led to the tragic electrocution of Jorge, while Lizeth sustained severe injuries. Lizeth was promptly rushed to a nearby hospital, where medical professionals diagnosed her with burns consistent with electric shock. Subsequently, she was transferred back to the United States for further critical care.
During the investigation into the incident, a witness who was acquainted with Jorge and Lizeth informed authorities that she noticed the pair motionless in the hot tub. Upon attempting to assist them, the witness also experienced an electric shock when she touched the water. Realizing the gravity of the situation, the witness promptly sought help.
This distressing event serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering to safety protocols and ensuring that all electrical systems are properly maintained in public facilities. Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of the victims during this difficult time.
