A 72-year-old man has died following a fire at a flat on Dumbarton's Red Riding Road.
The blaze took place yesterday (Thursday) evening, with Police Scotland this morning confirming that one man has lost his life - and that there were no suspicious circumstances.
A Police Scotland statement said: "A 72-year-old man has died following a fire in Dumbarton on Thursday, 2 June.
"Around 7.45pm on Thursday evening, police were called to a fire at a flat in Round Riding Road. A 72-year-old man was taken to hospital where he died a short time later.
"Enquiries are ongoing into the cause of the fire, however there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances. A report will be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal."
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service have been contacted for comment.
