A MAN has died after he reportedly attempted to rescue his dog from drowning in Aberdeen.
A multi-emergency response team were called to the city’s Beach Esplanade in response to a person in the sea on Tuesday evening.
Police, HM Coastguard and RNLI crews all arrived at the incident around 7.15pm.
It’s believed that the man’s dog was spooked by fireworks and fell into the sea.
The man was pulled from the water around 8.30pm and taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
However, Police Scotland said he was pronounced dead. It is also understood that the dog was not recovered during the incident.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “At 7.15pm on Tuesday November 1, police were called to a report of concern for a man at Beach Esplanade, Aberdeen.
“The 33-year-old man was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
“There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a report will be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal.”
