A man has died after suffering a 'medical episode' on the M62.
Emergency services were called to reports of the incident involving a motorist, which happened near to junction 22 for Saddleworth shortly before 1.50pm yesterday (Sunday).
A stretch of the M62 was shut for several hours to allow an air ambulance to land and treat the man. However, he was later pronounced dead, reports Yorkshire Live.
No further details about the man's age or identity have been revealed at this stage. No more details about the nature of the medical episode have been confirmed, although police say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the man's death.
In a statement, a spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "At about 1.48pm on Sunday emergency services were called to a report of a motorist having suffered a medical episode on the M62 Westbound near Junction 22 (Saddleworth). Emergency Services attended, including HEMS and a full road closure was in place for a short time to facilitate HEMS landing and treatment.
"Unfortunately, the male was pronounced to have died at 2.27pm and the road was reopened shortly afterwards. There were no suspicious circumstances and a report has been submitted to the Coroner’s Office."
