A murder investigation has been launched after a man died following a stabbing in a ‘millionaire’s row’ in Clerkenwell.
Police were called to affluent Lloyd Baker Street at around 11.20pm on Wednesday following reports of a stabbing.
Officers attended the scene alongside the London Ambulance Service, where they found 28-year-old Reece Salmon with stab wounds.
He was taken to hospital where he died on Thursday.
In a statement released by detectives Mr Salmon’s family said they are “utterly devastated by this loss.”
They said: “Reece was a loving partner and son, and he leaves behind many friends and loved ones. It is impossible to put our loss into words.”
Detectives have launched a manhunt to find the killer. No arrests have been made.
Mr Salmon’s family are being supported by specially trained officers.
Floral tributes have been laid at the scene by the victim’s family and friends.
Lloyd Baker Street is known for its expensive properties, with homes selling for as much as £2.25million in the past year.
A Section 60 order was authorised in the wake of the fatal stabbing, granting officers enhanced powers to stop and search people and vehicles.
It applied to the Caledonian Road, Clerkenwell and Hoxton areas.
The order ran from 4pm on Friday to 6am on Saturday.
Chief Superintendent Jason Stewart, who leads policing in the local area, said: "This is a tragic incident, and our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the young man who has lost his life.
“You can expect to see additional officers in the area providing visible reassurance and working with partners to keep the public safe.
“The victim was found in a residential street, and members of the public may have information of vital importance to our investigation. If you can help, please come forward.”
