A 16-year-old boy has been charged with murder after the alleged stabbing death of a man on the Sunshine Coast.
Emergency crews were called to a Baringa property just before midnight, where a 42-year-old man was found with fatal stab wounds.
The boy, who is known to the man, was charged a short time ago and will face the Maroochydore Children's Court tomorrow.
Baringa resident Chris Tindall lives nearby and learned of the death after seeing police cars in the street this morning.
"I heard on the radio driving to daycare and I heard there was a stabbing in Baringa and I came home it was three houses up," he said.
"You feel protected, you don't want that sort of thing to happen, you don't know what it makes people feel about the area now.
"But I mean it doesn't really matter what area it is … it's going to happen, or it's not going to happen.
"I'm just glad it wasn't anyone in our family. "

Sunshine Coast Crime Group officer Acting Inspector Phil Hurst said the boy was an "associate" of an adult in the household, but he was not related to the man who died.
"There are a number of people that are assisting with our inquiries at this stage, and they were the other occupants of the household," Acting Inspector Hurst said.
"The premise is a rental … the family have been there for over six months — the people weren't known to police and there are no previous calls that indicate any concerns."
Acting Inspector Hurst said the residents made the triple-0 call.
Police and paramedics said the man had significant injuries when they arrived.
"Unfortunately he was pronounced deceased on the ambulance's arrival," Acting Inspector Hurst said.
The death comes on what would have been the 17th birthday of Balin Stewart, who died earlier this year in a stabbing incident.
"I worked on that last investigation," Acting Inspector Hurst said.
"When people arm themselves with knives there can be tragic outcomes … and we've seen that yet again today."
