The BTP spokesperson said: "Officers were called to Bache station at 4.32pm on Friday 15 April following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended and sadly a man was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
Following the incident, Merseyrail's website reported a "major disruption" to services on the Chester line. The 4.30pm, 4.45pm and 6.15pm trains between Chester and Liverpool Central were cancelled as a result.
A spokesperson said on Friday: "Due to a person sadly hit by a train in the Bache area, services will now start and terminate at Hooton. Services in the area are currently at a stand. Buses have been requested to run between Hooton-Chester but are not yet in operation."
