A man has tragically died after being hit by a car while walking on the M8 in the early hours.
Emergency services raced to the motorway at around 1:50am on Sunday, January 30.
Officers from Police Scotland were alerted after a pedestrian, who had been walking on the M8 carriageway, was struck by a car.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Enquiries are underway to identify the man involved and notify his next of kin.
An investigation has also been launched into the incident and police are appealing for information.
The car involved, a blue Seat Leon, had been travelling westbound on the motorway at the time of the collision.
The driver of the car was uninjured but was left 'very upset' following the incident.
Sergeant John Tait said: “We are aware there were other vehicles, in particular a HGV lorry, travelling on the carriageway around the time of the incident and I am asking the lorry driver and other motorists to contact us.
"They may not even be aware that an incident occurred but we would ask them to get in touch with us. In particular, I would ask anyone with dash cam devices to check their footage as it could hold images which could prove to be significant in our enquiries.”
Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 0449 of 30 January 2022
