Man dies after being hit by a train between Bristol and Bath

A man has sadly died after being hit by a train between Bristol Temple Meads and Bath Spa last night.

Police were called to the train line near Keynsham at 11.34pm last night after receiving reports of a person on the tracks.

Paramedics also attended, but sadly the person was pronounced dead at the scene.

The train line between Bristol and Bath was closed last night following the incident and reopened at around 2.11am this morning.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: "British Transport Police were called to the line in Keynsham, Somerset, at 11.34pm yesterday (18 January) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended, however sadly a man was pronounced dead at the scene.

"This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
