The viral video of a young man's new definition of devotion is winning hearts. In the country where a quarter of the population criticizes people for wasting food over devotion, this video stands as a true example of devotion with humanity.
The video on the Positive India social media account starts from a small pooja space that contains a Shiva idol that people have decorated with flowers and incense. Hindu devotees practice a common ritual in which they pour milk over idols to demonstrate their devotion through milk offerings. The ancient practice has faced criticism because people now discard large amounts of milk and food offerings after pouring them on religious statues.
The young man performs the traditional ritual by chanting prayers and offering milk to Lord Shiva. Further, in the video, he places a clean plastic bowl in front of the idol before the ritual begins instead of letting the milk flow onto the floor. He collects the milk into the bowl after completing the abhishekam. The camera follows him as he steps out of the pooja area carrying the bowl of milk. He needs to take the milk outside and offer it to a stray dog.
The video features a caption that clearly demonstrates the young man's intentions through his actions.
'After offering milk during worship, the young man carefully collects it so it doesn’t go to waste.
He then feeds the milk to animals, turning devotion into an act of kindness and responsibility,' reads the caption.
