Man City XI vs Sheffield United: Starting lineup, confirmed team news, injury latest for Premier League today

Phil Foden is on the bench as Manchester City take on Sheffield United without manager Pep Guardiola, who underwent emergency back surgery this week.

Guardiola is set to miss two games, with his assistant Juanma Lillo deputising for him, and has been involved in the team selection for today’s game at Bramall Lane.

Bernardo Silva is fit and starts after returning to training following illness, but Foden is on the bench after his own illness. Jeremy Doku is on the bench ahead of a possible debut.

The Belgian winger joined for £55million during the week to replace Riyad Mahrez, who left for Al-Ahli earlier in the summer, and assistant boss Lillo has hinted that he will play at Bramall Lane.

“The team is at a good level,” said the assistant coach. “You've seen him, he has specific qualities. He can definitely help.”

Manuel Akanji did not travel, adding to Guardiola’s defensive issues following an injury to John Stones, and joins Kevin De Bruyne on the sidelines.
