Manchester City are focused on landing their last big-money signing from what has been a successful transfer for the champions.
Pep Guardiola has made marquee signings in Erling Haaland and Kalvin Phillips and now wants Brighton's Marc Cucurella. The Seagulls are determined to drive a hard bargain and are insisting on £50million for the Spanish left-back, who had such a fine debut campaign last season.
City are reluctant to pay that much, despite raising nearly £130million by offloading surplus talent. Mirror Sport has the latest City transfer news, including updates on Cucurella.
City have £30million Cucurella bid rejected by Brighton
Manchester City's opening bid of £30million for Marc Cucurella has been rejected by Brighton, Sky Sports claim.
City are focused on landing Cucurella after selling Oleksandr Zinchenko to Arsenal and see the Spaniard as an upgrade at left-back. However Brighton are determined to drive a hard bargain and have rebuffed their £30million offer, insisting they want £50million.
Brighton feel they are in a strong bargaining position because Cucurella has four years left on the contract he signed when he joined from Getafe last summer for around £15million.
Barcelona consider Aymeric Laporte bid
Barcelona are weighing up a move for Aymeric Laporte.
Barcelona fear they will miss out on Sevilla's Jules Kounde to Chelsea and are lining up Laporte as an alternative, says Sports Mole. However Laporte will be difficult to prise from City and the Spain centre-half has three years left on his Blues contract.
Laporte, who joined from Athletic Bilbao in 2018, has also gone on record saying how happy he is at the Etihad.
City offered chance to sign Benfica defender
Manchester City have been offered the chance to sign Benfica left-back Alex Grimaldo.
City are pursuing Brighton's Marc Cucurella, but The Boot Room claim Grimaldo would be a cheaper alternative if they cannot agree a deal with the Seagulls.
Grimaldo, 26, has been with Benfica for six years and the club's sporting director Tiago Pinto has hailed him as world class. Arsenal were also reportedly offered the Spaniard, but opted instead to sign Oleksandr Zinchenko from City.
