Man City transfer news: Four players set for loans as Vincent Kompany boosts Burnley

Raheem Sterling looks to be edging inexorably towards Stamford Bridge with a £45million plus price tag hanging around his neck as Pep Guardiola looks to shuffle his pack this summer at Manchester City.

Sterling's Chelsea exit is likely to happen around the same time as Arsenal signing Gabriel Jesus. However, with Jack Grealish, Phil Foden, Julian Alvarez, Riyad Mahrez, Erling Haaland and Cole Palmer likely candidates in a rotating front six Guardiola does not look short of attacking options.

It is at the back that there could be a bit of movement now in the summer window with fringe players wanting more regular action set to head for new pastures. Here Mirror Sport brings you the latest City transfer news and rumours.

Steffen close to loan exit

Longtime back up goalkeeper Zack Steffen is reportedly poised to seal a season long loan to Championship Middlesbrough. The United States international has had to make do with cup appearances with Ederson the clear first choice but in a World Cup year believes he needs to be playing regularly.

The BBC claim Steffen, 27, has a good relationship with the club and Guardiola has agreed to let the player,, whose deal with City runs until 2025, leave. City have lined up German free agent Stefan Ortega to replace him following his exit from German club Arminia Bielefeld.

Kompany in for City duo

Vincent Kompany has wasted no time hitting his City contacts book as he settles into the hot seat at Turf Moor with CJ Egan-Riley and Taylor Harwood-Bellis set to be announced as Burnley players this week according to the Manchester Evening News.

The pair will follow Scott Twine and Luke McNally into Turf Moor as the Clarets look to tie up early business ahead of a return to the Championship. England Under 21 captain Harwood-Bellis knows Kompany well from a spell under his stewardship at Anderlecht and could join on loan.

But Egan-Riley, 19, is likely to be a permanent move. The defender can play at the heart of defence or at right back and as a holding midfielder, adding versatility to the Clarets ranks.

McAtee's Leeds switch

Leeds are ‘very keen’ on a move for the Etihad youngster, according to The Athletic although with the player rated at City a loan maybe the best they can hope for. Leeds’ willingness to do business over Kalvin Phillips may well stand them in good stead.

And they are hoping that borrowing McAtee for a season may be the quid pro quo and help them plug the gap left by their star midfielder. McAtee, who would be a more direct goal threat than the England man, contributed 46 goals in 52 U23 games for City.

Ake has options

Chelsea have let it be known they could be interested in a double Etihad swoop taking both Sterling and versatile defender Nathan Ake to Stamford Bridge. But the Netherlands international looks to have plenty of suitors if the gossip is to be believed with Aston Villa and Newcastle also keen according to City fan side Bitter & Blue.

At 27, the Dutch defender has become a rotational figure under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, picking up 27 appearances across all competitions in the 2021/22 campaign. Just 10 of those starts came in the Premier League and in keeping with plenty of international players, his World Cup hopes would appear to hinge on getting a regular spot in the run up to Qatar. With three years remaining on his contract, City would look to take upwards of £45m.
