Man City told they are Premier League favourites despite selling Raheem Sterling to Chelsea

It's all-change at Manchester City at the moment, with the Blues conducting their biggest squad shake-up since the summer of 2017. City have made four new additions to Pep Guardiola's squad so far this transfer window, with Erling Haaland, Kalvin Phillips, Julian Alvarez and Stefan Ortega all arriving.

There have been a number of departures as well, with Fernandinho leaving at the end of his contract, Gabriel Jesus making a £45m move to Arsenal and Raheem Sterling on the verge of joining City's title rivals Chelsea in a deal worth an initial £47.5m. Should Chelsea get their way, Nathan Ake will soon follow the England star.

There have been some concerns among City fans that such a radical squad shake-up will make it hard for City to attain their astronomically high levels in the opening weeks and months of the campaign, as it will no-doubt take time for new signings to bed-in and the squad to adapt to any tweaks Guardiola makes.

In the absence of both his right-footed right-wing options, Guardiola is bound to make some alterations to the formula that saw his side win a fourth Premier League title and reach the semi-finals of the Champions League last season.

However, the arrival of Haaland alone has been enough to keep the Blues as many spectators' favourites to win the title again, given that an out-and-out front-man appeared to be the only thing missing last season.

Former Chelsea and England captain John Terry is one famous name who believes that the title is theirs to lose, despite the fact that his beloved Chelsea are expected to announce the signing of Sterling in the next day or two.

On Sunday Terry hosted a question and answer session on his Instagram page, during which he was asked who he thought would win the Premier League in 2022/23. Despite Chelsea making some serious transfer moves under new owner Todd Boehly, Terry backed City.

"Man City are too good in my opinion," said Terry. "Haaland will be huge for them."

Given that Terry currently holds a coaching consultancy role at Chelsea, his answer was surprisingly honest, giving an insight into how fearful of the Blues' leading figures at rival clubs really are.

This season the Premier League title race has the potential to involve more teams than just City and Liverpool, with Antonio Conte building an impressive squad at Tottenham, Chelsea under new ownership and Arsenal making some good signings, including Jesus.

However, with Haaland leading the line City should be confident that they can win a third title in a row for the first time in the club's history.
