Kevin De Bruyne joked about burning a Manchester United shirt that was ‘gifted’ to him by a podcast host.
The Manchester City icon helped demolish the Reds in last weekend's 6-3 thumping, when he recorded two of the 10 assists he has amassed this season. The 31-year-old will go down as a Blues legend, having helped the club to four Premier League titles and an FA Cup during his time at the club.
And he underlined his hero status after threatening to set a United shirt alight. Appearing on Belgian podcast Mid Mid, De Bruyne was given a new United jersey with his name and number emblazoned on the back.

The host joked “it’s a dream,” to which De Bruyne replied: “Can I burn it now? Most dreams aren’t real”. After last weekend’s derby, the midfield maestro was seen leaving the Etihad with Cristiano Ronaldo’s shirt.
The Portugal superstar was left on the bench for the contest, so the jersey wasn’t match worn although De Bruyne seemed pleased nevertheless. After the match, he said the 6-3 scoreline wasn’t a full reflection of the match.
“We set up quite good,” he said. “We found the spaces in the first half and played a really good game. I feel like whenever we’ve played away at United we have played really well, and when we’ve been at home they’ve won more than we did. They had found a way to win some games.
“But here we played better. Unfortunately at the end they scored two goals because I think 6-1 was fully deserved.”
