Man City stage comeback to beat Bournemouth in stoppage time

  • Manchester City secured a dramatic 2-1 victory over Bournemouth in Enzo Maresca’s first Premier League match as manager at the Etihad Stadium.
  • Marcus Tavernier opened the scoring for Bournemouth in the first half before Marc Guehi equalised for City with an 84th-minute header.
  • Josko Gvardiol scored the winning goal in stoppage time, which was awarded following a VAR review after initially being ruled out for offside.
  • The late fightback provided relief for Maresca after his side had missed several clear chances, including opportunities for Erling Haaland and Guehi.
  • The result denied Bournemouth's new manager Marco Rose an impressive opening win after his team led for much of the match.
