Newcastle United have reportedly submitted a £40 million bid for Leicester City midfielder James Maddison, according to the Daily Telegraph. They claim the Magpies are now considering whether to return with an improved offer as Eddie Howe looks to bolster his attacking options.
However, Newcastle have reportedly been told they will have to pay £60 million to sign Maddison as the Foxes look to stave off interest in their star man. But Leicester’s valuation of Maddison will no doubt leave questions Leeds United have given Manchester City a steal with Kalvin Phillips.
City paid £42 million for Phillips which is £18 million less than what Leicester could potentially get for Maddison. Phillips is currently the only one of the two who can get in the England squad with Maddison’s last cap arriving in November 2019.
