Man City's Aymeric Laporte issues 'totally different' 7-0 warning ahead of Leeds United clash

Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte has warned his teammates that their game against Leeds United "will be totally different" to the 7-0 result last season.

Pep Guardiola's side put the Whites to the sword at the Etihad Stadium in December last season as they scored seven without reply in front of their home crowd. Man City had 31 shots and 64 per cent possession that day in what was an evening to forget for a then Marcelo Bielsa side.

It is now Sam Allardyce's turn to take Leeds to the home of the reigning Premier League champions following Javi Gracia's sacking earlier this week. Even if he is unable to claim all three points against Man City, shoring up the goals against column will help Leeds in their fight against relegation.

And with the Whites sitting ahead of Nottingham Forest on goal difference alone, avoiding a repeat of last season's 7-0 is vital. But Laporte has now admitted that he cannot see the same outcome occurring when the two sides meet on Saturday afternoon.

"Last year we won here 7-0 but I think it will be totally different this year," he told Sky Sports News. "At the end of the season, we always do good things but also I know that teams who need points always do extra runs and extra things that we cannot control.

"It will be difficult until the end of the season because all the games are [like] finals."
