Ederson: Made a very good save in the first half but then went haywire and had to be bailed out by Cancelo before conceding three. 5
Walker: Could not keep hold of Saint-Maximin and cut a frustrated figure, although made some headway going forwards. 5
Stones: Looked like a man starting his first game of the season, awfully rusty against the pace of Newcastle's attack. 4
Ake: Made an important block to stop a speedy Newcastle attack before he was forced off early with what looked like a groin injury. 7
Cancelo: Made some decisions in his own third that left Guardiola fuming, although most of the trouble came down the other flank. 5

Rodri: One of his worst performances in ages as he was too slow to read the game or respond to it on many occasions. Grabbed the assist for the second goal though. 5
Gundogan: Bagged the early goal and was one of City's better players as they fought back in the second half. 7
De Bruyne: Missed a good early chance and struggled to make his mark until that pass from another galaxy for Bernardo. 8
Bernardo: Worked hard on the right wing trying to exploit space in behind Burn and anticipated the De Bruyne ball that nobody in a black-and-white shirt did. 7
Foden: Always gives defenders problems with his pace and energy, although will be disappointed with the miss in the opening minutes - especially with Haaland waiting again. 6
Haaland: Put a proper shift in even when City were out of the game, unfortunate to see one effort hit the post and started the comeback. 7
Substitutes
Dias (for Ake, 21): Did not help City regain any composure at the back but did prove useful in the Newcastle box. 5
