Man City player ratings vs Bayern Munich as Haaland, Grealish and De Bruyne good

Ederson

Recalled to the Manchester City starting lineup after Stefan Ortega played against Club America, although he was lucky to see Leroy Sane's shot ruled out for offside after palming a cross into his path, but otherwise solid as ever, displaying his usual range of passing against Bayern Munich's press. 6

Joao Cancelo

Looked a little uncomfortable on the right as Pep Guardiola trialled him on his natural side, rather than on the left as he played on Wednesday. In attack, though, he linked well with Riyad Mahrez on the right wing. 6

Ruben Dias

His presence was certainly felt after missing the Club America win on Wednesday, lasting 50 minutes and dealing with everything thrown at him. One sliding block in particular almost certainly saved a goal. 7

Nathan Ake

Looked far more comfortable alongside Dias, dealing with Serge Gnabry and Thomas Muller well. He will benefit from these two games, with his performance in Green Bay much more improved than in Houston - and against better opposition. 6

Josh Wilson-Esbrand

Considering he was dealing with Kingsley Coman and Thomas Muller, he did well enough defensively, and showed some impressive touches in attack, even testing the goalkeeper at one point. Maybe he can offer some full-back cover after all. 7

Rodri

Even with a more formidable opposition, Rodri looked like he was playing in the park with the ease he was dispossessing the Bayern midfield and setting City on their way. 6

Bernardo Silva

A far better performance than the Club America game, with some nice touches, and one brilliant dispossession in his own box. Positionally, he looks to be playing a deeper role to accommodate for the new attacking options, but that's something he's done before and can do again. 7

Kevin De Bruyne

Just like against Club America, De Bruyne led by example, winning the ball outside the area and feeding Grealish for the goal instead of shooting. His driving runs from midfield into the space vacated by Alvarez or Haaland could become a key feature of the new season. 8

Jack Grealish

Sensational touch and perfect square cross to assist Haaland, which characterised another all-action display. He seems to be a player transformed already in pre-season and dealt with Bayern's full-backs as he did with Club America's - by leaving them behind before getting a kick. 8

Riyad Mahrez

Grew into the game with some good touches. One of the players always actively looking for Haaland, and often found himself in space on the right. It didn't quite come off all the time, but not a bad game. 6

Erling Haaland

Pressed well from the start, and his goal was well-taken, sliding in front of goal. Away from that, his off-the-ball work was just as impressive, and his constant runs into space will be more encouraging to Guardiola. A very good debut. 7

Julian Alvarez (on 40)

Brought on at the re-scheduled half-time break, and picked up where he left off in Houston with some darting runs and lively touches in attack. 6

Kyle Walker (on 50)

Brought on at centre-back alongside Nathan Ake, looking comfortable out-of-position. 6

Kalvin Phillips (on 66)

Didn't make too much of an impact, but tellingly lined up alongside Rodri for his entire cameo, pushing up slightly as he does for England. 6

Cole Palmer (on 66)

One effort saved by Sven Ulreich. 6

Rico Lewis (on 74)

Wriggled through the Bayern defence and smacked the post from a tight angle. 6
