Ederson
Rested for Manchester City's first friendly, and given the full run-out vs Bayern Munich, Ederson showed why he will remain first choice despite a good debut from Stefan Ortega. Let off by the offside flag early on, Ederson recovered with some good distribution under pressure, although he wasn't particularly tested with any difficult saves. 6
Stefan Ortega
His first action in a City shirt was to smartly push away a close-range shot vs Club America, and his second was to pick out Riyad Mahrez on the halfway line with a pinpoint pass, showing the Blues won't have to adapt to the new goalkeeper when he deputises. Ortega played the full 90 minutes vs Club America and looked comfortable. 6
Kyle Walker
Given the first game at right-back, Walker looked his usual solid self against Club America, often operating in a back-three while City were in possession. He moved to centre-back towards the end to allow Kalvin Phillips to move into midfield, and when he came on against Bayern Munich, he operated in the centre again. He told reporters that he relishes competition for his place and has no plans to retire, backing those statements up with his two outings in the US. 6

Joao Cancelo
The full-back played in a position more suiting to the new number on his back vs Club America, coming inside alongside Rodri, and often making runs into empty space into the attack. With a more defensive brief against Bayern Munich, Cancelo looked a little more uncomfortable when given the chance to show his abilities on the right - although being pressed back isn't the best part of his game. Left-back may be where he gets the majority of his minutes this season, especially with Oleksandr Zinchenko departing. 6
Nathan Ake
With Aymeric Laporte and John Stones at home, and Ruben Dias injured, Ake was the senior centre-back in Houston and largely did well - but his lapse in concentration for Club America's route-one goal was disappointing. Another start vs Bayern, this time with Dias alongside him, and Ake was much improved and deserves credit. Ake told reporters he was happy at the club despite a summer transfer to Chelsea being denied, and he should get a chance in the Community Shield to reward him for the US performances. 6
Ruben Dias
Missed the Club America win with illness, but showed why he should be one of the first-choice centre-backs when he returned against Bayern, winning everything in the air and making one goal-saving block in particular. If Stones and Laporte have missed out by not being in the States, Dias must go into the new season as the first defender on the teamsheet. 7
Luke Mbete
A useful 90 minutes for the youngster in Houston showed that he could play a cover role for the first team this season. Equally as culpable for Club America's goal as Ake, although that was the only blip in an encouraging night. He remained on the bench in Green Bay as Dias returned, although he will have done his prospects no harm with his training and game performances, showing he's capable of being a ball-playing centre-back in this Pep Guardiola team. 6
Kalvin Phillips
A debut at centre-back probably wasn't how Phillips imagined it, and he looked far more comfortable alongside Rodri towards the end of the Club America win. He built on that against Bayern off the bench - this time alongside Rodri and pushing forward from deep - showing his versatility and recreating his England role. He backed up his comments to media earlier in the week that he's prepared to fight for his playing time after making the step up to City. 7
Rodri
Picked up where he left off last season with a quietly faultless 90 minutes against Club America. Showed he will be hard for Phillips to displace - almost impossible in the big games - with his calming performance vs Bayern. He was the only player to play every minute in both games, and when he spoke to reporters in Houston, he was particularly interesting when discussing the leadership he intends to add to his game from his holding midfield position. Not that it needed saying, but Rodri will be a key player this season. 8
Kevin De Bruyne
From the first minute in Houston, De Bruyne looked like a man on a mission, charging upfield to lead the press. Two well-taken goals earned him a deserved man of the match award, and he cemented himself as City's top performer on tour with another all-action display. This time he was bursting from midfield to support Erling Haaland, showing early signs of a devastating partnership, and his calmness to feed Jack Grealish to set up Haaland was pivotal in the match-winning goal. De Bruyne looks set to start the season with plenty of momentum. 8
Bernardo Silva
Looked like the player most out of touch compared to his teammates in the first game, misplacing a couple of passes in dangerous areas. His positional awareness was good, though, which proved useful against a superior Bayern midfield in Green Bay. This could be a similar season to 2019/20, where he dropped deeper and played a more tactical role to allow others to flourish, rather than being the main man himself. 6
Jack Grealish
Grealish spent most of the Club America game either skipping past the defenders with ease or getting hacked down by them. He declared after the match that he relishes the rough treatment, saying it motivates him to perform even better. Judging by his fearless approach on tour, Grealish looks like a player with a point to prove, and someone who is ready to get the ball and attack his full-back. He took exactly the same approach against a superior Bayern Munich side, with similar success, and his first touch and cross to assist Haaland (his second of the tour) was exquisite. Have City finally unlocked a way to get the best of their number 10? 8
Riyad Mahrez
A relatively quiet outing vs Club America was brightened up with a brilliant reverse assist from the touchline into the area to set up De Bruyne's winner. Mahrez spoke this week of building on his new contract with a better season than last year, so it was useful to see him improve against Bayern. Of all the forwards, Mahrez was looking to free Haaland more than most - and even if those balls didn't always come off, it's encouraging that they appear on the same wavelength. 6
Erling Haaland
Left sat on the bench in his casuals in Houston, Haaland started in Green Bay and found the bottom corner with ease in the warm-ups. His first action was to come deep and lay the ball off, using his strength, and his second was to slide in and convert Grealish's centre. Haaland made endless runs into space for the remainder of his first-half run-out and would have had an identical second goal but for an offside flag. If that's what he's like half-fit, he will be unstoppable (as Grealish predicted) when he's up to speed. 7
Julian Alvarez
Showed better fitness than his new teammates with a tireless evening in Houston, making some brilliant runs that often went unsupplied, but did create plenty of room for others. Already offering City a new dynamic, and compared to Jamie Vardy by two teammates already. The Blues may have uncovered another gem, and if he'd connected properly with a cross-field pass on the volley over the shoulder against Bayern, it would have wrapped up Goal of the Season before the campaign had even begun. 7
Josh Wilson-Esbrand
Namechecked by Guardiola after an encouraging half vs Club America as a possible cover option if a new left-back doesn't arrive. Then followed that 45 minutes up with a brilliant outing against Bayern to allow Cancelo a game on the right. Up against Kingsley Coman, Thomas Muller and Serge Gnabry, there were some understandably nervy moments defensively. But on the whole, Wilson-Esbrand was calm, dynamic, and powerful going forwards. Guardiola said after the game he could be a full-back for many years to come, and this could be his breakthrough summer to come from an outside option to a genuine left-back solution. 7
Rico Lewis
The best compliment to give Lewis is that he was relatively unnoticable in his late cameo vs Club America, his first senior outing. To be able to fit in seamlessly in this team is harder than it looks, and he should build on a positive academy season last term with a permanent step up to the under-23s. In the space of five minutes vs Bayern, he weaved in an out of their defence and smacked the post from an angle. Like Wilson-Esbrand, this could be a big season for him now he's shown he can hold his own at senior level. 6
James McAtee
Playing from his favoured attacking midfield role in Houston from the bench, McAtee looked lively and was always trying to get forward. With plenty of interest in taking him on loan, prospective clubs will have been encouraged with his latest first-team action. 6
Cole Palmer
Struggled to get past Club America's doubling-up job on him, but he should take that as a compliment. Fans in the US have been drawn towards the local lad and a big season should lie ahead, especially if there's a vacancy for a back-up right winger. Had one shot saved against Bayern in another lively cameo, although he may have hoped to make a bit more of an impact. 6
Liam Delap
With Haaland absent, Delap showed how City could operate with a physical number nine in his Club America cameo, before news of a rejected bid from Southampton broke. If he's back to fitness this season, he could be a real coup for someone - or a handy option off the bench for City. 6
Kayky
Quite lively vs Club America when he joined the action, beating the tired defenders more than once but let down a bit with the next pass. Plenty of promise to build on this season if he stays with the first team. 6
