Manchester City are reportedly eyeing a surprise summer move for Aston Villa left-back Alex Moreno, with Pep Guardiola keen to recruit a new full-back at the end of the season.
As reported by Foot Mercato, Guardiola is making the addition of a new left-back a top priority for City in the summer transfer window. It claims that Villa defender Moreno is high on the Spaniard's wanted list, despite the 29-year-old only arriving at Villa Park in January of this year.
Moreno has impressed for the Midlands outfit since signing for Unai Emery's side. He has registered three assists in his first 16 appearances and has helped Villa climb the table and into European contention. The report states that his move to England will have 'opened many doors' for the player, with both City and Chelsea thought to be admirers.

However, with Chelsea having Marc Cucurella and Ben Chilwell in their ranks, it appears unlikely the London outfit will make a move for Moreno. For City, the pursuit of a new left-back could depend on the future of Joao Cancelo, who is set to return to the Etihad at the end of the season after spending the second half of the campaign on loan at Bayern Munich.
Elsewhere, talkSPORT have reported that Kalvin Phillips wants to stay at City and fight for his future, despite the England international enduring a difficult debut season.
Phillips has struggled at the Etihad since his £45million move from Leeds last summer. The midfielder has made just 17 appearances in all competitions, having not yet started in the Premier League.
It is thought that West Ham are one of several top-flight clubs interested in the player, but the report claims Phillips still believes he can force his way into Guardiola's plans. The City boss is likely to have the final stay on the England ace's future.
