Welcome to the latest edition of the City Is Ours daily round-up, where we take a look at some of the Manchester City stories you might have missed.
City have been linked with yet another England midfielder, but this one might comes as a bit of a surprise.
A man with links to City's most recent opponents has sent a warning to Pep Guardiola as his team look to continue their march to a fourth Premier League title in five seasons.
And finally, City loanee Patrick Roberts is headed back to England but - as you might expect - the Etihad Stadium will not be the much-travelled winger's destination.
Does Ward-Prowse have Pep potential?
James Ward-Prowse is probably the definition of underrated. A consistent player who you can always rely on to perform at a high level and step up when required. And, in terms of dead-ball situations, he is one of the very best in the world - as he proved again in Southampton's weekend defeat to Wolves.
With his performances finally being appreciated, reports suggest a big-money move could be coming his way. Fichajes have claimed there is great interest for the Englishman, with Tottenham, Manchester United, and City all named as admirers.
Our view: There’s no denying Ward-Prowse’s ability. He’s a brilliant player who, with no disrespect to Southampton, would be deserving of a move to a top-six side. Despite Guardiola’s love for midfielders, it would be very difficult to imagine Ward-Prowse getting into the City XI given the incredible talent at the club already.
Perhaps Ward-Prowse’s services would be better suited on the other side of Manchester where the midfield options aren't so impressive…
Romeu's battle cry
Whenever City come up against Southampton there’s a lingering feeling things may not go to plan, just like we saw earlier this season when the Saints somehow managed to hold Pep’s side to a 0-0 draw at the Etihad.
If City win on Saturday that will be 13 games on the bounce for the Premier League champions but former Chelsea midfielder Romeu has sent a warning.
After Saturday's 3-1 loss at Molineux, Romeu said “This game has left us angry and we need to take that anger into the next game, and create an amazing atmosphere at home.
"We haven't been easy to beat at home and we want to keep it this way and I am sure it won't be an easy game for them [City].”
Our view: Normally when a player from an opposition lays down a marker like this it’s rarely something to take into consideration. But with City’s struggles in the reverse fixture, Southampton will be confident then can put a stop to Pep’s latest incredible winning streak.
It shows this really won’t be a walk in the park as Southampton look to vent their frustration by temporarily stalling City’s title charge. A fired-up Romeu is no stranger to a spicy tackle or two, either
From City to Sunderland
City youngster Callum Doyle is enjoying a successful loan period at Sunderland. The good news for the promotion-chasing League One side doesn’t stop there as they appear to have secured the signing of a different City loanee.
The Northern Echo have reported that the Black Cats have fended off interest from Celtic and Wigan to sign Roberts and are hoping to wrap up a deal for the winger before their next game against Portsmouth on Saturday.
Our view: Although it’s fair to say this story won't exactly dominate headlines across Europe, there are positives to take from this situation. Roberts spent half of this season in France with Ligue 1 side Troyes and City had to negotiate with the CFG affiliate to cut his loan move short.
The ex-Fulham youngster is a free agent in the summer, his 2015 transfer having not panned out as either party would have hoped. It is to City's credit that they have handed Roberts another chance to kickstart his career.
