Man City legend Vincent Kompany issues sharp response to Tottenham next manager suggestions

Burnley boss Vincent Kompany issued a sharp response to questions over his future amid links with Tottenham Hotspur.

Manchester City legend Kompany has steered the Clarets to an immediate return to the Premier League this season in his first job in English football. Unsurprisingly, Kompany has been linked with a move away from Turf Moor with reports in the national press claiming that the Belgian is a top target for Spurs to replace Antonio Conte.

Kompany was quizzed on his future at a pre-match press conference ahead of Burnley's return to Championship action at the weekend as they bid to win the second-tier title. And the former centre-back was unhappy about questions about links with a move away from his current club.

"I don't waste answers on my future," he said. "I said it on day one of my job here at Burnley, that one day in anticipation that there might be a question like this so crack on.

"I am focusing on Reading and the next games." Kompany was unimpressed when asked if he is happy at Burnley, who have only lost two games all season.

He said: "I know the question but what can I say? Am I going to say I am not happy? "We are 14 points clear at the top of the Championship, so we are all right.

"The key part is always be happy, never satisfied." Kompany went on to speak about life at Burnley and what has made them such a formidable outfit this season and, for him, an 'enviable' place to work.

"This is something that is the reason why I chose Burnley, I said it again and you can trace back to my very first interviews before I even played a game with this team," he said. "I chose for people and I feel that I made the right decision and it is an enviable place to work in, trust me, especially when we are speaking about managers getting sacked left, right and centre.

"We have got the infrastructure and talent, it is an enjoyable place to work in. "I think wherever I am, in my head it is always the biggest job in the world."
