Vincent Kompany has become the latest superstar to be inducted into the National Football Museum Hall of Fame.
The former centre-back spent 11 incredible years at Manchester City, helping them to break their trophy drought in the 2011 FA Cup final as well as scoring pivotal goals in the 2011/12 and 2018/19 title races. In total, Kompany won four league titles, two FA Cups and four League Cups with the Blues and his impact was so enormous at the club that there is now a statue outside the Etihad in his honour.
Kompany's efforts have now received wider recognition for his contribution both on the pitch and for his charity initiatives, including his efforts to tackle homelessness in Manchester through Tackle4Manchester. The National Football Museum have honoured the defensive titan with a place in their Hall of Fame in a ceremony at the Leisure Box in Burnley, part of the Burnley in the Community foundation at the club where Kompany is now manager.

Tim Desmond, Chief Executive of the National Football Museum, handed over the prize to Kompany and said: "Vincent Kompany is an excellent addition to the National Football Museum’s Hall of Fame and is the epitome of what the accolade represents. His excellence and outstanding impact spans his playing career at both a club and national level, and his managerial successes with Burnley Football Club’s recent Championship title win.
"The Hall of Fame also enables us to shine a light on his off-pitch achievements with Kompany’s commitment to tacking homelessness in Manchester in addition to the vital work of Burnley in the Community.”
Addressing a crowd that included youngsters who had been playing football at the leisure centre before stopping to watch Kompany, the City legend said: "I'm very humbled with the award. I'm looking out into the crowd and not so long ago - in my head anyway - I was one of the kids in the background trying to enjoy the game and get better.
"Today I am at the front here getting the accolades and I feel extremely privileged and honoured and it's a moment that is difficult to describe. I'm very grateful."
Kompany is the latest Blue to be inducted in a club that also includes Colin Bell, Franny Lee, Malcolm Allison and Billy Meredith.
