Man City leapfrog Arsenal in title race amid Kevin de Bruyne and Bernd Leno fume

Arsenal fans have fumed at former goalkeeper Bernd Leno and Manchester City star Kevin de Bruyne after Pep Guardiola's side scored a last gasp winner against Fulham in a 2-1 victory. It takes City back to the top of the Premier League, meaning the Gunners now have to win to return to the top of the league.

It comes after Guardiola named a slightly changed side, leaving the likes of Erling Haaland and Phil Foden on the bench for the clash. However, Julian Alvarez stepped in well, opening the scoring within 20 minutes to give them the perfect start to the game.

The tide turned just a few minutes later as versatile defender Joao Cancelo was red carded for a last man tackle in the box to give away a penalty. Former Manchester United playmaker Andreas Pereira stepped up to convert the penalty in the absence of Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Despite having 10 men, the hosts continued to push and thought they had grabbed a winner when Haaland scored from the bench, but it was ruled out for offside. That wouldn't stop the Norwegian having an impact though, scoring from a penalty after De Bruyne was adjudged to have been fouled in injury time - a decision which looked fairly soft.

It will be a frustrating result for the Gunners, given how close it was, with supporters annoyed at the decision for the penalty as well as Leno - who could possibly have done better with the final minute spot kick. Supporters took to social media to have their say over the late decision.

@Bareddykartheek: "Just how lucky are Manchester City man!! They got penalty for a dive in the dying minutes."

@nickipedia7: "So Man City & De Bruyne have to dive in the box to win vs Fulham That is the softest PK and lost alot of respect for De Bruyne diving like that."

@dsfc1886: "Kevin Dive Bruyne."

@APresserV2: "Swear on my life Leno let that in on purpose, just to spite us."

@GoonerTaIk: "Leno has got a full arm behind that penalty and still let it trickle through into the back of the net. City have got so, so lucky."

@osowxvyy: "Leno is still bitter that we shipped him off."
