Manchester City are set to go head-to-head with Arsenal for the signature of one of European football's most exciting talents, according to a club official.
Shakhtar Donetsk attacker Mykhaylo Mudryk has attracted plenty of attention for his performances for club and country this year. The 21-year-old has made 13 goal contributions in 11 appearances so far this season, with some dubbing him 'the Ukrainian Neymar'.
Now, Shakhtar's deputy sporting director, Carlo Nicolini, has confirmed there is concrete interest in Mudryk from both City and current Premier League leaders Arsenal. The youngster has been valued at a higher fee than the £85million Manchester United paid for Antony.

Speaking during an interview with Calciomercato's TV Play, Nicolini said: "The headlights are on him, but I say that the Italians always come later. Now it is easy to observe him, but it was possible to do it before. The Italians bring low proposals, we don't even sit down to negotiate.
"Oscillating between Arsenal and Manchester City? They are two teams that have taken an interest in the player. But there are also other clubs that can spend right away."
Meanwhile, Ilkay Gundogan could be playing his final season for City.
According to 90min, Bayern Munich are considering a move for the City captain next summer. Gundogan is now into the final year of his contract at the club, and has said he is in no rush to jump into negotiations at this stage in the season. Both City and Guardiola are understood to be keen to keep hold of the Germany international, who was Pep's first signing when he became City boss in 2016.
Gundogan is 32 years old now though, so City may be thinking about how to rejuvenate their midfield. Should he decide that he isn't going to get enough game time at City beyond the end of the current season, then Bayern would represent an attractive option.
