Man City 'interested' in move for Toni Kroos in January and more transfer rumours

Manchester City are interested in a move for Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos in January, according to reports. Sensational claims have emerged from Spain that say Kroos is a target for City in January - despite the club adding Kalvin Phillips to the squad in the summer.

According to El Nacional, City are interested in the German international, who is out of contract in June. The 32-year-old, who has made over 350 appearances for Los Blancos, enjoyed a fruitful three seasons under Guardiola at Bayern Munich.

Elsewhere, The Athletic report that Gabriel Jesus would have preferred to leave City for Chelsea in the summer, rather than Arsenal. However, the Brazilian's move to Stamford Bridge is said to have been blocked.

Jesus has been impressive for the Gunners since leaving the Etihad Stadium, scoring three and assisting three in six appearances. The 25-year-old has led the line well for Mikel Arteta's side and has looked dangerous in front of goal.

However, former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel initially decided that he did not want to sign a new striker over the summer, despite the Blues ownership 'advocating' a move for Jesus.

Yet, the German coach is then said to have changed his mind and was quickly on board with the idea of signing Jesus, but the owners later decided not to follow through with the move.

Tuchel was left ‘frustrated’ by the ordeal – especially as Jesus was keen to join Chelsea 'instead of' Arsenal. Before he was dismissed, the German signed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona.
