Man City fans 'treated like cattle' before Champions League final as supporters boo anthem in UEFA protest

Manchester City fans making their way into the Atatürk Olympic Stadium for their side's Champions League final have been subjected to "dangerous" conditions as pre-match management is branded a "shambles."

UEFA came under heavy criticism for their handling of last year's final with Liverpool and Real Madrid fans and ultimately issued a public apology for the worrying scenes in the Paris final. Pre-match coverage has already been interrupted by plumes of black smoke as more chaos occurs in the build-up to European football's showpiece event.

City fans have been filmed booing the Champions League anthem in the hours leading to their game against Inter Milan, again reminiscent of the scenes from last year. It comes as freelance journalist Alex Brotherton, attending the game, branded it a "shambles" and "dangerous" - accusing UEFA of "treating supporters like cattle."

The Athletic's Oliver Kay added: "Like Wembley in 2021 (Euros final), like Paris in 2022, it's a mess outside. Hope everyone gets in safely." Fans were also advised to arrive at the stadium up to nine hours early as concerns over the travel infrastructure were heightened in the weeks before the match.
