Man City duo ‘heading to Southampton for £16m’ and more transfer deadline day rumours

Manchester City have already bagged a deadline day transfer of their own in Borussia Dortmund centre-back Manuel Akanji, but the club might see some current personnel head through the exit door before the night is over.

Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko have all already left for Premier League rivals this summer, with Romeo Lavia and Gavin Bazunu also departing for competitors Southampton.

The Daily Mail reports that academy duo Sam Edozie and Juan Larios could be about to join them on the south coast. Winger Edozie is an England under-19 international who made his senior debut in last year’s Community Shield.

Larios, a full-back, joined from Barcelona in 2020 but has not managed to earn his first team debut. HITC says the pair could go for a combined £16m.

Another player could be about to leave for one of the clubs within the City Football Group portfolio. Italian side Palermo were added to the list this summer, and chiefs look set to utilise their assets already.

City under-21s talent Claudio Gomes has played three times for the senior side since his 2018 arrival, his most recent coming against Swansea in the FA Cup fifth round last season.

The defensive midfielder spent last term on loan at Barnsley, racking up 32 appearances in total. Now, Stadio News 24 (via Inside Futbol ) claims the 22-year-old is set to join Palermo, who play in Serie B, on a permanent deal in the hopes of experiencing more first team action.
