Manchester City have been charged with numerous breaches of financial fair play regulations following a four-year investigation by the Premier League.
Last season's Premier League champions have been under scrutiny by the League for alleged profit and sustainability breaches, the investigation resulting in charges brought against the club for the 2009/10 campaign onwards.
City, who were hit with a ban from European competition by UEFA in February 2020 for FFP breaches before having it overturned by the Court of Arbitration for Sport in July of the same year, have remained under investigation by the Premier League following that decision, the focus being on a number of sponsorship deals and how manager and player remuneration was accounted for.

A Premier League statement release this morning read: "In accordance with Premier League Rule W.82.1, the Premier League confirms that it has today referred a number of alleged breaches of the Premier League Rules by Manchester City Football Club to a Commission under Premier League Rule W.3.4.
"Commissions are independent of the Premier League and member clubs. The members of the Commission will be appointed by the independent Chair of the Premier League Judicial Panel, in accordance with Premier League Rules W.19, W.20 and W.26.
"The proceedings before the Commission will, in accordance with Premier League Rule W.82, be confidential and heard in private. Under Premier League Rule W.82.2, the Commission’s final award will be published on the Premier League’s website.
"This confirmation is made in accordance with Premier League Rule W.82.1. The Premier League will be making no further comment in respect of this matter until further notice."
Manchester City won the Premier League six times under the ownership of Sheikh Mansour and the City Football Group, lifting the trophy in 2011/12, 2013/14, 2017/18, 2018/19, 2020/21 and 2021/22.
In 2013/14 they pipped Liverpool to the title by two points.
