Man charged with rape of 15-year-old in Peckham

A man has been charged with the rape of a 15-year-old teenager in Peckham, London.

Abioina Dele Lawal, 32, of no fixed address, was charged with rape on Wednesday.

He will appear at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

Detectives begun investigating after they received a report of a rape of a 15-year-old girl by a man near Elm Grove, SE15.

The rape was reported to have taken place shortly after 6.30pm on Sunday January 30.

It was reported the teenager was walking past McDonalds on Rye Lane when a man started speaking to her.

Police said it was reported a man directed her along Elm Grove to a small green area between Elm Grove and Bellenden Road where it was reported he raped her.

Specialist officers have been giving support to the girl.
