(Picture: Google Maps)A man has been charged with the murder of his 89-year-old grandmother in Croydon.
Verushan Manoharan, 31, appeared at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Thursday after being charged with stabbing Sakunthala Francis to death.
Ms Francis was found with stab wounds at a property on Brigstock Road in Thornton Heath at around 9.20pm on Tuesday.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
A post-mortem examination will take place in due course, the Met Police said.
Enquiries are ongoing, but nobody else is being sought in connection with her death at this stage.
Manoharan has also been listed to appear at the same court on July 21.
