A man has been charged with murder after a woman was found dead inside her car in east London.

Kennedi Westcarr-Sabaroche, 25, was found on Whiston Road in Hackney on 6 April just before 6.45am, the Metropolitan police said.

Officers forced entry to the vehicle and attempted to resuscitate Westcarr-Sabaroche before ambulance staff arrived, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives arrested Gogoa Tape, 27, at an address on Whiston Road on Saturday and he was charged with murder on 7 April.

Tape appeared in custody at Thames magistrates court on 8 April and made his first appearance at the Old Bailey by video link from Thameside prison on 10 April.

Judge Alexia Durran set a plea hearing on 26 June and a provisional two-week trial from 3 February 2025.

Westcarr-Sabaroche’s family have been informed of her death and a postmortem was carried out on 8 April, the Met said.

Friends and family paid tributes on X. One read: “Rest in perfect peace to my sister. Friend from birth. I’ll never forget you and I will always keep your name alive. I love you deep Kenni.”

Another post read: “First person I’ve ever lost THIS close to me and it’s not even like she had an illness or anything. Murder you know. Murder? No words.”
