A man is dead and another accused of his stabbing murder after a fight over a packet of cigarettes.
Police said two men aged in their 60s had been drinking at a Cairns home in Queensland's far north on Wednesday night before the disagreement.
Detective Inspector Jason Chetham said the argument broke out over a pack of cigarettes at the Manunda residence after 8pm and a man was stabbed.
"Police attended, they found a man suffering a suspected wound to the side of his neck and bleeding heavily," he said.
Det Insp Chetham said emergency services administered first aid but the 62-year-old man died at the scene.
Police arrested a 63-year-old man, charging him with murder and he will appear in Cairns Magistrates Court on Thursday.
