Man charged with murder after fatal stabbing of 'much-loved' man in Battersea

A 46-year-old man has been charged with murder following the fatal stabbing of 25-year-old Tai Folkes near Battersea Power Station.

Mr Folkes, from Lambeth, was ambushed by a group of men and stabbed to death on Thessaly Road, Nine Elms in south London on March 2.

The young man was taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition at around 6.15pm where he was later pronounced dead, police say.

In a statement Mr Folkes’ devastated family described him as “caring, full of warmth, humour and loyalty” and with his “whole future ahead of him”.

They continue to be supported by specialist officers.

On Monday, Met Police arrested a 46-year-old man on suspicion of murder at a property in the Perry Bar area of Birmingham.

Asher Edwards, 46, of Hemans Street, Lambeth, was charged with murder on Tuesday.

He is due to appear at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court later this morning.

Mr Folkes’ relatives described him as a much-loved brother, son and friend.

“He was a caring young man full of warmth, humour and loyalty,” they said.

“We are devastated by his loss.

“Tai had his whole future ahead of him, with dreams, plans and so much left to give.

“The pain of knowing his life has been taken from us in such a cruel and sudden way is something we will carry forever.”
