An Edinburgh man has been charged with attempted murder following an alleged incident on a quiet residential street on Monday.
Robert Burnett, 26, appeared before a sheriff in private at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Tuesday October 11 to hear a charge of assault to severe injury, permanent disfigurement and attempted murder. Burnett, of the capital, made no plea or declaration and was bailed.
Police locked down Ardshiel Avenue in the Clermiston area shortly after midday on Monday, October 10 following reports of a road crash and subsequent disturbance in the suburban street. Edinburgh Live reports that multiple police cars and ambulances were spotted on the street shortly before it was cordoned off, with a 29-year-old man being rushed to hospital with serious injuries.
Burnett's case was committed for further examination on Tuesday. A 31-year-old man was also arrested by police and will appear in court at a later date, according to a Police Scotland spokesperson.
They said: "Police and emergency services were called to a report of a road crash and subsequent disturbance on Ardshiel Avenue, Edinburgh, around 12.15pm on Monday, 10 October, 2022.
"A 29-year-old man was taken by ambulance to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh with serious injuries.
"Two men have been arrested and charged in connection with the incident. A 26-year-old man is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Tuesday, 11 October, and a 31-year-old man at a later date."
