A Victorian man accused of fatally injuring a 61-year-old has faced court charged over the death.
Aaron Bernath, from Maddingley at Bacchus Marsh, was on Saturday charged with murder after police found 61-year-old George Bernath injured at a home on Stonehill Drive on the night of January 11.
The man was flown to hospital where he later died.
The murder accused on Monday morning appeared before Melbourne Magistrates Court, where Magistrate Vincenzo Caltabiano remanded him in custody.
He was earlier charged with a lesser offence before he was charged with murder, the court was told.
He sat in the dock wearing a grey tracksuit, occasionally looked at the ceiling throughout his filing hearing.
He said, "yes, Your Honour", when he was remanded in custody.
Prosecutors asked for 14 weeks to prepare a brief of evidence given the number of exhibits to be analysed.
Victoria Police earlier said Bernath and the 61-year-old man knew each other.
Detectives continue to investigate the incident.
The murder accused is next due to appear in court on May 30.
