Man charged in relation to fatal shooting of Michael Tormey in Ballyfermot

A man has been charged in relation to the fatal shooting of Michael Tormey.

The shooting happened on 9 January at a house in the Thomond Road area of Ballyfermot.

Gardai have charged a man in his 40s and he will appear before the Criminal Court tomorrow morning at 10:30am.

A 39-year-old woman who was also arrested has been released without charge.

A garda spokeswoman said: "Gardaí investigating the fatal shooting of a man in his 40s that occurred at a residence on Thomond Road, Ballyfermot on Sunday, 9th January, 2022 have charged one man.

"The man (40 years) has been charged in relation to the incident and is due to appear before Criminal Courts of Justice on Wednesday morning, 19th January, 2022 at 10.30a.m.

"The woman (39 years) was released without charge this evening and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

"Investigations ongoing."
