A man is accused of using two guns to kill another man after a fight broke out at a birthday party in September in Morgan Park.

Nykee Owens, 19, pulled out a handgun when he stepped between 30-year-old Kenard Milsap and Milsap’s cousin just after 2 a.m. on Sept. 24, prosecutors said.

The cousin grabbed Owens and begged him to calm down as Milsap walked down an alley in the 11800 block of South Hale Avenue. But Owens followed Milsap and fired several shots, striking him in the face, prosecutors said.

Owens walked to his car but then turned around and pulled out another handgun. He reached over a gate and fired more shots at Milsap, prosecutors said. Fifteen shell casings from two guns were recovered at the scene, prosecutors said.

Owens was arrested Wednesday and charged with one felony count of first-degree murder.

A judge ordered him held without bail Friday. He is due back in court Jan. 4.
