The man who was arrested in connection with a serious assault that occurred on Grand Parade in Cork on Wednesday has been charged.
At around 7.30pm on Wednesday night, Gardai rushed to the scene on Grand Parade after a man was reportedly stabbed in the neck.
The victim, who is in his 20s, is now in a critical condition at Cork University Hospital.

Gardaí subsequently arrested a man in his early 20s. He is now scheduled to appear before Cork District Court this morning, Friday, June 16.
A report by CorkBeo adds that the suspect is known to Gardaí and has a previous conviction related to carrying a knife.
Gardaí are appealing for anyone with camera or dashcam footage, or any witnesses, to come forward.
In a statement following the incident, a spokesperson for Gardaí said: "Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this assault to come forward.
“Any road users and pedestrians who may have camera footage (including dash cam) and were in the area of Grand Parade/Daunt Square between 7:15pm and 8pm on Wednesday, June 14 are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
"Anyone with any information is asked to contact Bridewell Garda station on 021 494 3330, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station."
