Man charged after death of 35-year-old

Police are investigating the death of William Watson, 35, who was known as Billy (Police Scotland/PA) -

A man has been charged in connection with a death in West Lothian.

Police were called to a report of an injured man in a property on Harestanes Road, Armadale, at around 11.50am on Saturday.

William Watson, known as Billy, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives said on Wednesday that following a post-mortem examination, the 35-year-old’s death was being treated as murder.

Officers said Mr Watson suffered fatal injuries consistent with being shot by a firearm.

A 57-year-old man who was arrested in connection with the death has now been charged, police said on Thursday.

He is expected to appear at Livingston Sheriff Court on Friday.

Detectives previously said they were interested in the movements of two vehicles, a blue BMW car and a black Vauxhall Mokka, which were seen on Harestanes Road around 11.50am on Saturday.
