Man charged after allegedly setting free pet snakes

A man has been charged with domestic violence related offences after allegedly freeing two pet snakes on a footpath in Sydney's east.

Police allege the 25-year-old damaged two snake enclosures at a unit on Mount Street in Coogee and placed the animals in an unsecured box outside the home about 11pm last Saturday.

The snakes, which belong to a 25-year-old woman known to the man, have not yet been found.
