Two drivers were caught street racing in Coombs on Sunday, September 8.
One of the drivers, 35, who was in a blue Volkswagen Golf hatchback, had his 3-year-old daughter in the back seat.
Police observed the Denman Prospect man weaving his Golf in and out of traffic alongside a black Nissan Skyline sedan along Cotter Road at around 9.30pm before continuing on to John Gorton Drive.
Police seized the Golf after pulling it over. The driver will face court at a later date for aggravated racing.
This was the second speeding incident along Cotter Road and John Gorton Drive in the span of a week. Days prior, two other drivers were detected driving more than 45kmh over the speed limit, resulting in having their licences suspended.
"This kind of behaviour is incredibly dangerous, and not only puts the lives of those reckless drivers at risk, but that of other road users as well," Officer in Charge of Road Policing Detective Inspector Mark Steel.
"I encourage anyone who witnesses hoon driving or dangerous driving in the community to report that activity to police."
Police are seeking information about the driver of the Nissan Skyline and ask anyone with dashcam footage of the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or online through the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Please quote 7845915. Information can be provided anonymously.
