A man has horrified social media users after sharing a glimpse of his stomach-turning hotel room dinner.
The worker, a professional product manager known as Alexander C, shared a post on LinkedIn detailing his recipe and method.
In an effort to protect his company's 'P&L' (profit and losses), the keen employee eschewed expensing a pricey meal out while away for work.
Instead he decided to buy some chicken breasts from a shop and place them in the hotel kettle to cook, along with a little butter and garlic.
While the hot plate at the bottom of the kitchen appliance may be enough to cook the poultry, the picture Alexander shared had more than just undertones of salmonella.
He said: “I’m travelling for work and instead of eating a fancy dinner out, I’ve decided to cook a cheaper meal in the hotel room.
“Even though the hotel room didn’t have a kitchen, I managed to use the coffee machine to cook chicken with butter and garlic.
“Although my company allows me to expense dinner while travelling, I wanted to save money because I know that every dollar counts. It’s the little things that get you promoted.”
Emily, who shared the post on her Twitter captioned the screenshot: “LinkedIn really flies under the radar as the social media platform that’s absolutely the most unhinged.”
Thousands of people were equally grossed out by the idea – the post racked up 264k likes and 25k retweets.
One commenter said: “I am fairly certain for the amount he spend on these ingredients he could have just bought himself a hot dog or two and reduced his chance of food poisoning from 100% to 50%.”
As unsettling as the image of the chicken was, those concerned about Alexander's health need not worry too much.
The LinkedIn user has a long history of writing satirical posts on the work orientated website, making fun of the "grindset" culture that has become popular on it.
Alexander recently wrote about his efforts to limit himself to just four hours sleep a night in a bid to up his productivity levels, only to find himself hallucinating at his desk.
"As the hours ticked by, my hallucinations became more intense. I saw people and objects that weren't there, and I could hear conversations happening in rooms that were empty," he recalled.
"And then, out of nowhere, Tony Robbins appeared in front of me. He was larger than life, with his signature leather jacket and megawatt smile.
"'You're doing great!' he yelled, pumping his fist in the air. 'Don't stop now! Keep pushing yourself! You can do this!'
"I was stunned. Tony Robbins was here, in my office, cheering me on. I couldn't believe it. But still, I kept working. I was determined to prove that the advice I had read was right.
"Finally, after 36 hours of being awake, I collapsed on my desk. I was exhausted, but I was also proud. I had pushed myself to the limit and achieved more than I ever thought possible.
"I had proven that success came from hard work and determination, no matter how many hours of sleep you got."
While Alexander is a known joker, what isn't funny is the grim reality of some hotel kettles.
Several years ago some guests who had forgotten to pack extra pants admitted that they had been using their hotel room kettles as makeshift washing machines, in a bid to sterilise their underwear.
Not only is this incredibly dangerous - the kettle could overheat or become faulty and catch fire - but it also doesn't actually work.
That's because some bacteria can withstand high temperatures, and as hotel kettles aren't supposed to be industrial strength cleaning machines the water won't necessarily sterilise the pants.
