A man has been sentenced after he broke into a woman's house and punched her in the face. Nottinghamshire Police says the victim woke up at her home on Peveril Street in Radford during the early hours of October 6 in 2018.
The woman thought the intruder in her bedroom was her son, but it was in fact 29-year-old defendant John Hunter. The woman screamed at Hunter and a second unknown intruder to "get out"
The pair stepped out of her front door, but Hunter then turned back and punched the woman in the face, causing her to fall backwards on the floor. Both men then ran off.

The woman was left with facial injuries, and Hunter, of Gardendale Avenue in Clifton, was eventually arrested. He later pleaded guilty to assault causing actual bodily harm and was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court on March 10.
He was given 18 months in prison, suspended for 24 months, and was also ordered to pay £1,500 in compensation and given a restraining order for two years.
Detective Constable Darren Barker, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "It must have been terrifying for this woman when she came face-to-face with these intruders in the way she did. She suffered nasty facial injuries after Hunter turned violent without warning after leaving her house.
"I hope the sentence brings some degree of closure for her in this case, and also serves as an opportunity for this offender to reflect on his appalling behaviour and the lasting impact it has had."
